PKM

A general purpose machine gun with its origins from the former Soviet Union. Much to some people’s surprise, the PKM was designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov. If you’ve ever taken one apart its almost like an upside down AK action.

Adopted and used by many former Com-Bloc nations, the PKM is also wide spread in Middle Eastern countries. The Libyan Civil War a couple years ago was the first instance I can recall where the PKM was used alongside it’s NATO rival the FN MAG (M240).

Polish Spec Ops and Police
Poland’s Elite Special Forces Unit GROM in conjunction with Poland’s Antiterrorist Police Force and Railroad Defence Guard take part in an exercise involving a hostage rescue situation on a train at undisclosed location in northern Poland prior to Euro 2012 soccer championships December 2, 2011. Poland is investing heavily in security for next year’s European football championship despite downgrading the number of visitors it expects. Commandoes have been simulating a multiple hostage situation in case criminals target the world’s second largest football tournament, which is being co-hosted with Ukraine next June. Never Forgotten
jimmytwo-times:

On this Memorial Day, I’d like to remember LCpl Ray Johnson. I never met him in person, I guess we were kind of like pen pals or something. But I had talked to him since he was a poolee and on through him deploying to Afghanistan. I couldn’t decide on an MOS but infantry was what I wanted most and me convinced me to do it and I did but I didn’t get to tell him I even became a Marine because he was killed on November 13th, 2010. I think he would have been proud that I made it. I wish I could have met you, Ray, I know you were an awesome guy.
